Boiler Operator Pre-Licensing Seminar

Objective: 
Conducted at the historic Cleaver Brooks Boiler House and R&D Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this (2) day program is intended to greatly assist an individual who is preparing to take their high or low pressure steam licensing examination or, anyone who wishes to improve their knowledge concerning proper boiler room operations; Enhancing boiler room and system Efficiency, Reliability Sustainability and Safety.

This course is designed for boiler operators, maintenance personnel, and front line supervisory personnel.

  • Heat: An in depth discussion of water and heat; its transference, phase change, enthalpy, and the thermodynamics occurring within the pressure vessel and system.
  • Boilers; types, construction, comparisons, determining output, and applications.
  • Boiler Trim includes all the mechanical devices used to control steam production and SAFE operation.
  • Combustion: The basic chemistry of combustion, post combustion effluents, controlling excess air, efficiency, stack analysis, etc.    
  • Fuel Burning Equipment: Burner types, fuel metering, oil & gas
  • Controls: Burner management and combustion controls
  • Fuel Saving Equipment: New and retrofit
  • Steam Traps and Piping: What you need to know.
  • Water Treatment: Mechanical removal of impurities; what/ how
  • Boiler Feed Pumps: Types, sizing, NPSH, and avoiding cavitation
